Western Railroad Discussion > Pixels, Megabites and Running ManDate: 12/01/12 07:04 Pixels, Megabites and Running Man Author: PRose On the job, I'm known as "Jurassic"; my two fellow co worker switchmen
having 6 and 8 years on the job to my almost 40. The same term applied to me in the photography realm until recently when I was drug kicking and screaming from color slides to digital. The camera manual looked liked a Sears Catalog. It was trial and error and advice from fellow railfans on what worked for them for action shots. The different dial settings were overwhelming and I tried them all. The one I have settled on is the little figure of a guy that appears to be running. We affectionately call him "Running Man". I hope these images are up to Trainorders Standards. I'll throw them up and let you be the judge. 1) The Train Order Board and Bay Window on the restored Rock Island depot at Inman, KS. October 30, 2012 2) The Q-KCKSAG Roadrailer between Aikman and Chelsea, KS October 31,2012 3) Yet another westbound BNSF stack train approaching the east switch at Chelsea, KS. November 25, 2012. Thanks for looking. Comments Welcome. Bob Helling aka Jurassic PRose Date: 12/01/12 07:09 Re: Pixels, Megabites and Running Man Author: rich6000 Well running man is doing good great photos Bob.

It looks like you and running man made the transition from film to digital seamlessly. What kind of digital camera are you using.

Date: 12/01/12 08:40 Re: Pixels, Megabites and Running Man Author: PRose Thanks for all the kind words guys. I still have my
wet darkroom and will always use film for B&W. Nothing like a real silver gelatin print. Bob Helling PRose Date: 12/01/12 09:30 Re: Pixels, Megabites and Running Man Author: texchief1 Bob:

Randy Lundgren Date: 12/01/12 18:46 Re: Pixels, Megabites and Running Man Author: Out_Of_Service something must be wrong with my digital ... my running man i either standing still or doing the moon walk backwards ... i have no clue what the hell i'm doing with digital ... maybe i should just ask ..."WHAT THE HELL IS A RUNNING MAN?" ... nice photos
Date: 12/01/12 18:55 Re: Pixels, Megabites and Running Man Author: CimaScrambler Looks to me like you have the hang of it, even if it don't feel that way (yet!).

Just don't leave your camera alone as I have been known to secretly change the settings from recording JPEGs to RAW. Lance still hasn't forgiven me but I bet he is secretly thanking me!

I like that first photo a lot. There's nice detail under the eaves, and a razor sharp edge on the signal. On the top of your dial that givesa you different choices of selection or settings, Manual, Video, Auto, etc.,There is one of a man running. Also looks to me like a speed skater. That one is for MOTION of what you are taking a pic. of. I'm guessing that is the one Bob is calling Running Man. upkpfan
