CP Holiday Train on ICE
Author: GAF1948

The CP Holiday Train made a daylight move today through Illinois on the DM&E (formerly IC&E, ex-MILW West line) between Chicago and Savanna (and on to Muscatine IA), stopping at Pingree Grove, Byron and Savanna.

Photo #1: At Genoa, passing under the CN (former IC).

Photo #2: East of Kirkland

Photo #3: At Stillman Valley

Photo #4 - Approaching Byron and the Rock River bridge

Photo #5 - West of Leaf River. I can't believe that the highway traffic melted away just as the train passed - sometimes you get lucky!

Not as interesting as seeing this train at night, but an interesting opportunity for a daylight chase.

The last one out there along IL-72 west of Leaf River is nice. The steam from the cooling towers at the Byron nuke plant is quite noticeable for many miles.
