Western Railroad Discussion > "hearing a well worn SD40 creak across a wood trestle "Date: 12/17/12 13:32 "hearing a well worn SD40 creak across a wood trestle " Author: 494 with 2012 just about in the bag & another round of 2013 vacation bids looming, i've spent the better part of today on trainorders.com dreaming about a return trip to western canada. amidst revisiting many old posts i had remembered, i stumbled upon a post by user tsokolan entitled "cn work train on a big bridge". it wasn't a post that i immediately remembered and after viewing the content i can't believe i missed it the first time around.
http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?15,2779540,2779540#msg-2779540 one line in the text struck a chord with me, "i never get tired of hearing a well worn sd40 creak across a wood trestle!"....and along the rails of a trestle like that who could blame him! i couldn't help but be reminded of this scene, one of many i was able to capture of the ex southern pacific branch line trestle across kellogg creek in milwaukie oregon, now operated by the p&w...before construction of the now adjacent trimet light rail line came into the picture. of note, the lead locomotive 3052 is also ex sp. you thought a well worn sd40 sounded good trevor, how about two!! The SD45 is my favorite EMD diesel, and I'll bet they sounded pretty good creeping over that trestle!

EJ&E didn't own any SD40-2's - smaller SD38's Date: 12/17/12 16:56 Re: "hearing a well worn SD40 creak across a wood trest Author: roustabout dcfbalcoS1 Wrote:
