Western Railroad Discussion > Stored Unit Coal Train coming out of storage

2013-01-05 Walsenburg Colorado. Picked up radio transmission on BNSF from BNSF 9796 to Dispatcher asking about pickup at Walsenburg. After a 'who is on first' discussion and arrival of a 'Master' from La Junta it became was apparent that BNSF was picking up from SLRG/UP. Only catch, no train to be picked up. This was at 15:00. Train did arrive @ 16:39. FEPX, MQRX hoppers.

#1 Light Power on West (UP) side of power switch in Walsenburg.
#2 and #3 West of Walsenburg.

Wow, that Rio Grande paint scheme is really nice! I don't recall ever seeing that one before. Were they "two-offs" or some other reason why these were painted up? The only RG scheme I have seen as of late was the Heritage UP loco.

Awesome livery; blows the UP away.

This is the San Luis & Rio Grande paint scheme. Not a part of the old D&RGW except for the trackage they operate upon. Search SLRG.

They have some 4 axel GE's painted the same along with an F-10.
