A couple shots from the Sunset Route this weekend
Author: pinb0t

I was out by the Salton Sea this weekend helping my cousin with a photography project. Was next to the tracks long enough to grab a few shots. Pretty heavy traffic out there, but on Friday the weather was tough. Sunlight poked through late in the day and I was able to get some decent shots. The route is appropriately named as the sunsets out there are beautiful.

Thanks for looking - Matt

Nice looking color and clouds, is your first shot somewhere between Niles and Wister?

Nice captures. TRAINS mag just did a very detailed article on this exact area. Worth a look if you frequent this place or have an interest.

There's nothing out there to see. The Salton Sea area is a desolate wasteland. Why anyone would waste the gas to go out there to film trains in the middle of nowhere is baffling. Hell, it's almost like wandering around over there in Cadiz looking for a tree. I heard there's a new book out "A tree grows in Cadiz"....LOL....there's better places to shoot....

The desert has a certain mystical quality and beauty all of its own. You either get it or you don't.

After coming from the west coast of Canada I am always enchanted by the desert, it's starkness & beauty never fails to impress.
