I think are Friend Rusty is letting trains go by. Must talk to Rusty as this is his track right now.

Oops! STRINGLINE

Whew! I guess I picked a good time for a quick overnight to Tehachapi - Friday and Saturday. We were thinking about Sun-Mon.

Have fun, be safe,

The wheels on the train go on the ground, on the ground...

Looks like one of the new hooded signals got taken out and it wasn't even in service yet. That signal sure had a shorter life-span than anyone would have predicted.

That's a good thing in general! You can still find trains there on Sunday, but not too many on Monday. Mondays on Tehachapi should be avoided unless as a last/only resort.

curious as to how those huge front end loaders are used to reset the railcars vs the use of sidewinder cats. craig

I'm wondering if that nice Southern Railway boxcar has met its end.

Pretty fair sized front loaders and then a bigger one drives by. Curious if it's a new strategy for clean-up, the side winders were interesting but maybe they take too much time to move a car away from the tracks. They also take more time to move from the unload into the site, the rubber tire front loaders move pretty quick. Rubber tires let them move across the tracks pretty quick, maybe less stress on the rail. Curious if there's an issue with the tracks and the concrete ties.

There's another thread with a short clip of a front loader lifting and pushing an empty center beam while moving back and forth across the tracks.

I don't think they're worried about resetting those cars on the track!!
The loaders are used to clear the track, so the repair crews can fix
the track ASAP and get it reopened!!
Most of those cars will probably be loaded on flatcars for removal.

Looks like they just got those front end loaders off the sellers lot. New paint and everything.
