GE/Talgo vs. MPI/Bombardier Commuter Rail Today
Author: GrandeGold

While I set out to see the Amtrak GE powered Talgo train coming into the Salt Lake Valley this morning, I witnessed a UTA MPI powered Bombardier train at the same location. It offered an interesting comparison of modern commuter rail design. The single level coach on the UTA train is a former New Jersey Transit Comet Car added to increase capacity.

After that, it will be heading north on the tracks of the Coast starlight, up the valley and past Shasta. I hope to see it on the Dunsmuir railcam soon. Does anybody know when it will be passing Eugene, OR? I would like to get out and see it and would like to know if that is possible.

I didn't pay attention to the routing, thought for sure it wasn't coming our way. Nice catch James, kicking myself for not getting out to see it.
