Few From Kansas City/Topeka Area

Last Sunday (5/26/2013) I made a trip up to the Kansas City Missouri area to put some flowers on my grandpas grave up in Leavenworth Kansas for Memorial weekend and also got a little railfanning in before the monsoon rain storm that hit Monday morning. Thanks for taking a look.

1: Massachusetts Central Railroad's B&M Heritage unit awaits delivery at Mid-America Car near Kansas City Missouri.

2: Power sitting around at Mid-America Car near Kansas City Missouri.

3: CREX 1203 ES44AC waiting for a leaser at Mid-America Car.

4: A rerouted oil load from the Brookfield Sub from the Rockview Missouri derailment and auto train from NS's Voltz yard wait there turn to cross the Missouri river in North Kansas City. Locomotives: BNSF 9072, BNSF 9243, BNSF 4735, BNSF 1352 & BNSF 8620.

5: A Progress Rail built BNSF "SD32ECO" #1352 waits it's turn to cross the Missouri River to get to BNSF's Argentine yard near BNSF's Murry Yard.

6: NS GP38-2 #5190 sits under I-35/29 near Norfolk Southerns Avondale yard in North Kansas City.

7: BNSF 6033 with a special sitting near the shops in Topeka Kansas.

8: Ex Santa Fe's parked around the shops. BNSF 889, BNSF 599, BNSF 655 & BNSF 676.

9: Ex ATSF 666 waiting for work at BNSF's Topeka Kansas Shops.

11: BNSF 2652, BNSF 2663 & BNSF 9871 at the shops.

12: This is why BNSF is my favorite railroad to railfan, BNSF 3179, BNSF 9651, BNSF 2380 & BNSF 1576 at BNSF's Topeka Kansas shops.

Nice photos! Have those Citirail units been roaming around the US yet? I don't seem to have seen any photos of them.

16: BNSF 1630 & BNSF 8855 at BNSF's Topeka Shops.

17: CSX 7586 & CSX 897 leads I'm assuming a Fairfax Kansas bound auto-train through Santa Fe Junction in Kansas City Missouri.

18: BNSF 6359, BNSF 9506 & BNSF 9529 waits it's turn to cross the Missouri River bridge to get on to BNSF's St. Joe Sub to continue north at the West Bottoms in Kansas City Missouri.

19: UP 6380 DPU working it's way towards KCS/CP's Knoche yard in KC.

20: UP 5223 leads a NS auto train to a stop near BNSF's Murry yard in North Kansas City.

21: BNSF 8857 & 9470 leads a string of empty hoppers west coming off the BNSF Brookfield Sub near Norfolk Southerns Avondale yard and heading towards BNSF's Murry Yard to get to the St. Joe Sub.

22: NS 9368 & NS 8946 leads #111 east around Birmingham Junction on Norfolk Southerns Kansas City District.

23: UP 8632 UP 6960 leads a Global 4 bound stack train east on joint trackage on BNSF's Marceline Sub.

24: Amtrak 156 leads #314 Missouri River Runner to a stop at the station in Independence Missouri during a thunder storm on it's trip to St. Louis on Union Pacific's Sedalia Sub on 5/27/2013.

BNSF 9418 is retired and being stripped for parts. Kind of sad. I got to run that unit on the transcon in AZ a month before it was retired. Glad I took some pics of it then.

Instead of reviving all those trash 9's, I wonder why WARREN BUFFET didn't lease those 15 brand new CITIRAIL ES44AC's?

169 looks a lot better. Nose all fixed up. Truck work as well.
