New Portland, OR UP Siding
Author: ats90mph

I'm assuming this is on the "Kenton Line", and an extension of the Reynolds Siding...

Roseville, Calif., June 21, 2013 – Union Pacific Railroad will strengthen Oregon's transportation infrastructure by investing nearly $8.6 million to construct a new siding track on the main Union Pacific rail line in Portland between NE 122nd Avenue and NE 162nd Avenue.

Not the Kenton line but the Graham line about four miles west of Troutdale where they join up.

Wonder if this is part of the plan to put in the south leg at the beginning of the Graham line at the intersection of I-5 & I-84
very near where the truck "dropped in" recently. Work on this leg is pending city of Portland permitting. Arlen

Release says "between NE 122nd Avenue and NE 162nd Avenue" which is a long way east of the I-5 & I-84 junction. There is room on the Graham Line right of way, but it could also be an extension in the Hemlock-Reynolds area. Definitely not on the west end down by the Willamette.

edit: Went by the east end of the route tonight. There are machines in there clearing out the buildup of brush.

Washy, have you heard anything further about expansion projects at Hinkle?

Yes, the addition of the south leg of the wye on the Graham Line is a LONG way from the new siding but the new wye leg will facilitate more traffic
on the Graham Line by allowing trains to go directly south when coming in from the east or go directly west when coming from the
south and the Brooklyn container yard.

Can't be the Kenton Line because it has three road crossings in the area and one 131st goes to COSTCO
