AMTK 156 Charges Through Elkhorn Slough
Author: NorCalRails32

Yesterday, I received word that AMTK 156 (Phase I Anniversary/Heritage Unit) was on the point of Amtrak's southbound Coast Starlight #11. When I woke up this morning, I checked the status of the train and noticed it was running 46 minutes late out of Martinez. I figured the train would face more delays on its journey through the Bay Area, and I assumed correctly. For some reason, the southbound Starlight was delayed significantly in Emeryville and wouldn't recover.

After I heard the train departed San Jose, I decided to head over to Elkhorn Slough (located between Watsonville and Moss Landing). After waiting about 20 minutes, AMTK 156 dashed through the Slough with the Starlight. I got some pictures and a video of the train as well.

Photo 1: AMTK 156 "The Pointless Arrow" approaches the crossing.

Photo 2: The specially painted unit blasts across Kirby Road.

Photo 3: A going away shot of AMTK 156.

Too bad you didn't get shots of it with the slough in the foreground. :-) No criticism, just a comment.
