Mandin, ND
Author: espeefan

I was wondering if Mandin, ND is a crew change point. If so, where do the crews come from and what is the mileage between each point. I'm in Bismarck this week and have noticed quite a few coal trains. I've also found the yard and fuel pad in Mandin.

Mandan to Glendive (206 miles) and Mandan to Dilworth (204 miles).

Isn't a 200 mile long crew pool a little to long for coal trains? Especially on a single track route.

Not at all. They usually can make it in 12 hours; loads seem to have priority over the empties.

If you get a chance, dont miss the DMVW on the east side of Bismarck running on former SOO line.

Is the territory between both crew change points all TCS (signalled in both directions)?

ABS both on the Jamestown Sub to the east and the Dickinson Sub to the West, and beyond. CTC doesn't begin until the Jamestown Sub meets the KO Sub west of Casselton.
