While SD70MACs have already been heavily used on oil trains, sounds like they really want to run them into the ground before they get returned off lease.

Sounds good. Assign the 70ACe motors too. They aren't being protected from heavy a** coal drags.

Ill pass the word along.

They still gonna outlast any new/old GE junk.

Yeah, since you've ran a lifetime of SD70MAC's on the mainline to know how "beat up" they are.

Get real!

So what happened Welch? Did you get yourself in trouble and have to come back under a new ID? Not a good way to live life as a bitter young man!

Whatever you have to keep telling yourself pal! The GE's may break fuel lines every now and then but the availability on the EMD's isn't stellar my friend! Ever hear of BNSF's SD75 M and I fleet and how they are first to be stored if they don't have to be run? They have and have had since delivery one of the worst mean time between failures of any BNSF locomotive class. Ever been around modern EMD FIRE computers and their ability to just grid lock themselves? Oh and why did CN cancel their order for SD70ACe's then? CN personnel are speculating its do to the poor reliability of the SD70M-2 fleet. I don't need to get into senseless back and forth arguments, but your constant childish pointless GE bashing is getting old in every thread Frontrunner. At least learn the facts and support your position. The new GE product is not the U Boat of yesterday and the current EMD product is so far down hill from the once great SD40 line its scary!

I am pretty impressed with how the old GE AC's have held up. The ole SP's are still pulling with the best of them. Most of them have spent a good portion of their lives above 5000 feet in run 8.... Maybe it is the Altitude :)

They have a few (tongue in cheek) rattles....but they pulllll!

Yeah but the same can be said of the SD70Ace. While off to a poor start, they seem to be improving. GE didn't get it right overnight.

When did CN cancel their SD70ACe order?

I'm not sure just been reading on Loconotes that CN's order has been cancelled

Exactly and those units don't owe anybody anything! Rode hard and into the ground comes to mind

Without seeing a sudden increase in GE's on order it's a little premature to blame it on anything. Sometimes orders are just canceled for any number of reasons.

Believe me, SD40-2 orders were canceled from time to time. Other times they are delayed.

And the same can be said of the even older BN (and BNSF) SD70Mac's.....

Oh no doubt NYSW, just repeating what has been said by a couple reliable sources without turning it into rumor fest.

Are the SD70MAC units the same locomotives that were delivered in the mid-1990s? They should be at or near the end of their lease period if the original term was 20 years. That was typical back in that era.
