Tangier, OK on the Transcon
Author: texchief1

Went up to NW Oklahoma May 31st through June 3rd, 2013. Tangier is about 8 miles west of Woodward on Highway 15. There is an old wooden overpass that you can see from the highway and a small sign showing the road to Tangier. The following shots are Two Westbounds on May 31st and Seven Eastbounds shot on June 2nd. On the 2nd of June there were Seven Eastbounds and six Westbounds between 6:59a.m and 9:58am. I did not include the Westbounds on 2nd of June. Tangier is a nice place to shoot and the locals are all friendly, even when I block half the overpass. The signals on the EB shots are where the east switch of Tangier was located before the double tracking. The overpass is located at MP 392.4 on the Panhandle Sub.

Randy, some really great shots around Tangier.

I really like #1 on June 2nd. I like the train around the curve in the background. #5 with the train meeting the auto racks. I like the way the headlight and ditch lights are shining off the auto racks. These are my two favorites.

Excellent job of shooting.

Great shots and memories, Randy. I remember when we first met in 03 and shooting at Tangier with you when it was still single track.

Nice shots.

If you care, some symbols as I shot a couple of the same trains the day before on the Seligman Sub:

BNSF 6592 East on June 2 was the Z-SBDATG9-31K
BNSF 5436 East on June 2 was the Z-FRSCHI7-31L
BNSF 4688 East on June 2 was the Z-STOWSP6-31L

Bob:

That 03 trip was great meeting you and Gary. We should have railfanned together since then.

Good Stuff Randy!
The views from the bridge there opened up greatly once the 2MT project was completed.

However, I do miss the cantilever signal bridge and the search lights that were once at that location.

Very nice. Really enjoy the auto rack meet and you just gotta like it when you get 4s four-of-a-kind.

Sammy:

The westbound shots really opened up after the double tracking. I miss those signals at east Tangier also.
