Colorado coal production down

What a surprise -- Western Slope wellhead natural gas was $3.42/mcf (or per MMBtu, pretty much the same) as of yesterday. Henry Hub was $3.55, New York Citygate was $3.68. Coal from just abt anywhere can't compete with these prices.....

Not good for rail traffic.... Less fracking and coal...either way you go....

There's a note in one of the trades that Central Appalachian Coal is also struggling. In general, the utilities and plants which burn CApp coal are well stockpiled into the winter. That has cut down on fill-in and other purchases, and made the coal trade more difficult. Southern Appalachian coal is also hurting, and incoming export orders are dropping off
