M&M on the Marceline
Author: mopac1978

Last Saturday my good friend ironmtn and I had the chance to railfan together for the first time in way too many moons (you'd probably need all your fingers and toes to count). The weather couldn't have been more perfect although the trees weren't at their peak yet. Nonetheless, we had a splendid day out on the Marceline Subdivision, a favorite piece of railroading for both of us. I'll post a few selected shots and let ironmtn post some of his as well. Oh yeah, the thread title? We're both named Mark.

1) One of our first shots was this westbound stack train right at MP 328.

2) The second unit of this train was one of the yellow-lettered BNSF units. How many of these are there?

3) Shortly after an eastbound rounds the curve.

4) Going away, we can see a westbound UP train approaching. The rear of this train didn't clear in time to shoot the UP.

5) Another eastbound at MP 328.

6) An earthworm passes through Ethel.

7) The real plan for the day was to catch #4 with the 600 in tow from Colorado. Here it passes through Ethel.

8) A closer look at 600

9) Moving a little west of Ethel, we shot a series of westbounds on this curve.

10) Second of the series on this curve.

11) Third up was a westbound UP auto train

12) Followed by a UP stack train.

13) Later on we moved closer to Marceline, here just east of town.

14) After it got dark, we played around with shots at the signal bridge in Bucklin.

15) I'll end my posting with this whimsical "Lunar over dark" signal

I'll let the other Mark add some of his shots to this posting now.
