Ten New CITIRAIL GEVO's in KC
Author: bnsfsd70

While hanging around BNSF's Argentine Yard in KC today waiting on an exceptionally late Amtrak #3 (http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?4,3262097), I came across the transfer from the KCS which happened to have a brace of ten new CITIRAIL ES44AC's up front. I can't confirm this, but they likely came out of Mid-America Car shop over on the Missouri side of the city.

Photo 1: Looking west towards AY Tower off of the 12th St. Viaduct.

Photo 2: Rolling west to the Goddard Viaduct, we're looking east at the train led by the BNSF 2766. This ex-Southern GP30 has lived around KC for quite a while now, and is always one of my favorite units to shoot, given all of it's modifications over the years, esp. in the last few since it was outshopped from Topeka.

Photo 3: Looking west off the Goddard Viaduct into the heart of Argentine Yard, I'll leave the train here, as I'm about to hit the road to chase the uber-late Amtrak.

The units were:

BNSF 2766
BNSF 2939
CREX 1324
CREX 1329
CREX 1331
CREX 1314
CREX 1320
CREX 1327
CREX 1323
CREX 1333
CREX 1318
CREX 1325

Its unfortunate that I wasn't able to get more light on the units, but I really do like the look in photo 3. Any updates on the departures of these units in the next few days would be most appreciated!

Thanks,
- Jeff Carlson

Do any of them have outbound assignments or forwarding notes yet?

Same series of engines, though a different group of them, as those are different numbers.

Thanks for looking,
Jeff

1201-series are/were the ones stored at MAC.
1301-series are brand new builds. 1301-1308 from GE Erie, 1309-1350 from Ft Worth.

Ahh, I hadn't seen your post until just now. All I had seen were the ones out in CO.

Nice!
