How's about some AT&L
Author: ns2557

Made my way south thru Oklahoma yesterday. Day started cloudy but sorta cleared abit before becoming cloudy with rain as the day went on. From previous trips thru the area I knew I might be able to shoot the AT&L, or Austin Todd & Ladd, along the way. The same units that have been at Watonga Ok in previous visits where still there, those being the leased LLPX MP15 158 and one of their original units, SW1200 1127. I dutifully lensed both of these units and continued on my way. Passing thru Geary Ok, I found this unit, AT&L 2165, an ex ATSF unit, their 2877. After shooting it, I once again headed on my way. Took off East/Southeast out of Geary Ok on US270. A few miles east but still west of Calumet Ok along what I believe to be ex CRI&P tracks I found a train moving. Other than the switch job at Watonga Ok, I have never seen a train anywhere on this line moving. It was by no means breaking any speed records on it journey, I clocked it at 10Mph when I got out to get the shots. So, here is the train. Not alot to enhance the shot out here, so I got what ya see. AT&L GP40 4502 leading McCoy Elkhorn Coal Corp GP10 8102, AT&L GP9 1948 and ex FTRL/UP/MKT GP40 3001 with a train of Grain Cars. The 4502, must be new to the AT&L as I can not find anything about this one. But, that Green and White Paiont scheme sure stands out and looks good out in the bright Okla sun this day. All shots taken on 01/10/14. Anyone know anything about the 4502? TFL. Ben

Nice coverage of a shortline we don't hear much about!

The 4502 has been on the property for at least a year. Don't know any more than that.

IIRC, somebody said it was an ex Seaboard GP40.

Nice shortline coverage Ben. Probably rare that you actually caught something at work there. Great assortment of colors and equipment.
