New/Improved Bakken Oil tank cars?
Author: 70ACE

Saw what looks to be new tank cars on an oil train westbound through Spokane. Most of cars had RUSX 155xxx reporting marks with the last three digits ranging from 302 to 555. No end shields but the cars seemed much larger in diameter and a different design than old DOT 111. Definitely were not spiral tank design. Can anyone confirm if these might be a new design to the old DOT 111? Power was 2 + 2 DPU so it was alot heavier than a regular oil can which usually has 2 + 1 DPU for power.

Sorry, no photos as was at night.
