Barstow-Needles Sub
Author: mearsksealand

My goal for the day was to catch as many foreign power as I could expecting quite a few westbounds arriving Barstow. However there must have been a work window in effect as very few westbounds arrived during the day but observing ATCS later in the evening I noticed several westbounds arriving in bunches

First Image BNSF stack train parked east of Barstow with two CP units

Second Image BNSF Warbonnets that look like they were in a war

Third Image Colorful mix of light power heading East

Wasn't to successful in shooting foreign power but a good day

Was the train in pic 2 a local or road freight? Either way, nice catches!

That 2nd photo is "rare" in my opinion: a brace of 5 GE B-B axle units on a heavy mainline freight. So, so rare these days...but once so common on the Santa Fe!

The Cadiz Turn has been running with a quintet of B40-8W's since 2009 at least, and prior to that GP60's and GP60M's were in the mix, too.
