Chasing UP 1983 along MO Rte. 58

I received word that UP 1983, the Western Pacific Heritage unit, was back on the move with empty coal train 2CIMNA9 14. I was able to intercept the train at Kingsville, Strasburg and Pleasant Hill, MO along MO State Route 58.

Enjoy!

1. Cresting the grade at Kingsville
2. All stretched out along the 'hogback'
3. Cruising past the MOPAC-era tri light dwarf signal at CP M243 in Strasburg

8. A closer view of the train, with the undulating highway and telephone poles along side
9. The head end of the train rolls into the setting sun, which turned the sky a shade of off-pink

10. The DPU is nearly clear of CP M248, on its final leg into KC

What time was 1983 in P-Hill?. I spent about an hour in Knob Noster watching it and I think it got by me (around 3:30PM) when I needed to return to my office for a brief few minutes.

Marty,

1983 met AMTK 316 at Dow, MO at 540 PM, and was by Kingsville about 650 PM, P-Hill at 700 PM.

That would have put 1983 through Knob Noster around 6:15PM or so. Not even close to when I thought it would be.
