I was going thru some of my pictures and noticed this UP Unit with a different headlight placement. Could this unit have been a wreck repair.

The story I have heard from several different sources is that the 7312 was wrecked in a grade crossing accident while on the Norfolk Southern in late 2004 or early 2005. It suffered severe cab damage and was repaired in an Norfolk Southern with a spare cab that was on hand at the shop. Norfolk Southern GE units (at least at the time) have the main headlight above the cab windows.

Wow, all that and not a crack in the windshield. That's a great testament to 223 glazing.
