Western Railroad Discussion > A few from Elm Creek Ne on July 11 2014

Prior to my eb return across Nebraska and US30, I went west on the 11th of July. Spent the night here getting my rest, if ya want to call it that. Walked up to the overpass west of "Downtown" Elm Creek and came away witha few keepers I believe. The bridge provided some shade from the rather warm sun that was shining ever so brightly.

Shot 1. This was a meet that almost wasn't. Not the meet itself, but my being able to get a shot. UP SD40N 1611 west meets an EB Coal Load with the elevator standing tall behind. Have the unit numbers from the load but battery went dead on voice recorder b4 I could listen to it.

Shot 2. This is the rear of another EB Coal Load with one of the C6044AC's, the 7314 doing the honors. This shot really shows that large radiator section of these big units rather well.

And Shot 3. On my way out of Iowa earlier in the morning I first shot this one at Kennard Ne., waiting on some traffic to pass. After getting here to Elm Creek hours ahead of him, he finally showed up here. UP 7294 leads wb empties past my vantage point.

All in all, a busy 4 hours here. Traffic was predominately eb's with coal being the most type seen. About 12-15 passed by me here. After about 1/2 hour lull, fortunately while I was making my way up to the overpass, is when everything got busy. Saw power from NS/KCS/SP/UP/PRLX go by me. The SP was the 335 and the PRLX was an ex BN SD60M, 8139. TFL. Ben

Thanks for the shots. When I was in my teens I used to spend a lot of time in Elm Creek watching the UP parade. Town sure has changed over the years.
