I was to meet up with fellow TO member “lilwes” in Topeka, KS for an afternoon of fanning. While waiting at our rendezvous point at the Kansas Avenue crossing Uncle Pete put on a little show and his old passenger depot, the Great Overland Station got into the rodeo as well. It looks like ‘spring cleaning’ is a couple of months late on these ranch grounds…

1. The opening scene in this rodeo has our ranch hand all saddled up, completely dedicated to the task of mowing the lawn. The Great Overland Station is getting some sprucing up.

2. His concentration is stalwart as UP 6443 trots up on his left rear quarter.

3. Our hero safely exits the scene to the left as the 6443 passes but wait, what’s going on over on the right?

4. It looks like a UP M.O.W. crew is charged with clean-up job a little more complicated than our GOS cowboy. There is some serious foliage removal going on here!

5. Our first hero is back in the saddle for another ride…

6. …but that Komatsu Kowboy is really bucking along!

7. The business of running trains continues with UP 6839 trailing in the 6443’s footsteps.

8. A while later our Komatsu wrangler is after some deeper foliage as now UP 8795 trots by.

Nice photos...

In case your wondering here's the attachment that being used on end of trackhoe in action. I've watched them work before and they make quick work of any type of brush.
