Western Railroad Discussion > UP's North Platte yard empty?Date: 07/30/14 20:58 UP's North Platte yard empty? Author: trainupaboy Had a chance to visit NP today and the yard was 90% empty. I have never seen it like this before. Is this normal or am I missing something?

Edit...Just took another look at the cam,the tracks closest to the loco facility look about normal.Bit hard to make out now in the dark. Regards,DK Edited 1 time(s). Like they say, "Railroads make money hauling freight, not storing it in yards."
Just a guess, they probably built a fleet of outbounds that emptied up the bowl(s). Andrew Posted from iPhone Date: 07/31/14 06:13 Re: UP's North Platte yard empty? Author: trainupaboy Just talked to a NP railroader..he said that's usually the goal for midweek. ..Indeed efficiency!
