Saturday, August 9th - day trip from Portola to the Keddie Wye and back 1) A Western Pacific GP7 pulling the train from the Western Pacific Railroad Museum at Portola, CA, out to a siding for Amtrak to pick up. 2) Approaching the grade crossing near the Mohawk Ranger Station. I spent a lot of time looking at pictures of CZ dome lounge observation cars before I realized the rear windows of the dome are smaller because the roof over the lower-level lounge in the back is higher. It's pretty obvious in this picture. Also, I didn't realize how much shorter the dome in the ATSF "Pleasure Dome" was in comparison to Budd domes.
