UP Derailment near Barstow Texas

Ward County , TX (Local Big 2 News) - A train crash leaves two injured Sunday after a water truck hits a Union Pacific train. According to Union Pacific officials, an east bound train collided with water truck just east of Barstow. The truck did not stop at the crossing and the train was unable to stop, causing the train to derail with three locomotives and 10 rail cars going off the rail.

I wonder what you'ld be doing approaching a tanker on the tracks and YOU don't know what is in it but you're about to find out....

I should have been more specific..yes its next to impossible to read the actual numbers. But if there is a red placard= probably flammable. If there is no placard= hopefully water or empty. Either way has to make for a tense few seconds. Hope all involved recover fully.

I think us railroaders know how to read/identify placards....we are hazmat certified after all.

Not silly. True. It's been written that in combat a large percentage of soldiers soil themselves.

Coming up on a tanker that you might think is loaded with explosive liquid would indeed cause some to do the same thing.

Seen it happen.
