Amtrak, Metrolink, and Beaches (Saying Goodbye)
Author: BNSF-6432

Here I should be wrapping up the pictures from the venture we took out west at the beginning of August. I thought about posting over to the passenger board (as the majority of this is passenger) but I do have a couple freight stuff in here and it is in the west, so here we go....

First three are all at Chatsworth, CA on Friday August 8th from hanging out at the station all morning.

1) Metrolink 108 heads back to union station while the conductor calls out their signal to depart on

2) Southbound surfliner heads out on a green board pushed by an F59PHi

3) Later into the afternoon, our final catch is southbound metrolink 116

4) On Sunday the 10th, we hopped on the train early in the morning and headed straight for San Clemente Pier, but first, once again we were catching stuff on the ride that we didn't get before, and going by BNSF's intermodal yard south of LA, we passed the GP40X and a genset doing some switching

5) We now arrive at San Clemente

6) Our first train is Amtrak 768 southbound along the coast.

7) Once the sun worked its way over we walked out on the pier and started shooting from across the water as one of the Metrolinks makes a quick stop

8) A southbound with a regular superliner making its way to the station

9) Amtrak 462 passes a good number of people enjoying the sun

10) Southbound Metrolink leans into the curve with 4 of the newer cars

11) Same train with much more of the Pacific Ocean in the view

12) Northbound comes in from the other side this time with an all blue set of coaches and a P42

13) The last train before we head out is this northbound Metrolink train with a very clean F59PH on the point

14) And finally here comes our northbound with 7 cars that was packed to standing room

15) Riding back to LA we pass a northbound local with the pair of red and silver 60s we shot at Fullerton on Wednesday

16) We finally get back to Chatsworth for the evening and say goodbye to Amtrak 785

17) 785 accelerating out of Chatsworth on green boards

18) First, I never thought I'd hear myself say "Oh yay! A stack train!" But after overdosing off surfliners and commuter trains, we headed out to east LA for some freight action. Here we see a stack train passing Montebello station just as we arrived, not having time to shoot before

The 873 is a F59PH. The only F40 on Metrolink is the 800.

19) And 15 minutes later, we are greeted by a stack train coming in with 3 UP units and a KCS belle in the mix

20) And here's out last look of LA at LAX as we depart on Spirit airlines bound for Dallas, TX

Thanks for Looking

Love the shot in La Mirada; every day when I ride Metrolink into DTLA, I am always amazed at seeing up to three cabeese parked at the La Mirada office... Not to mention at least one unpatched (or minimally patched) Warbonnet!
