Government proposes radioactive-waste train?

Makes sense to me, line up how you're going to move this stuff to the disposal site now so that when you finally get a site you're ready to go.
So what's the problem?

This idea has been around for quite a while, it was being discussed when I was at FRA HQ in the early 80s...

Guys, railroads have been moving nuclear material and nuclear waste for decades now.
What the heck do you think is in those DODX cask cars?
The Navy has built, decommissioned and also refueled a large number of nuclear powered ships and submarines since 1958.
And almost all of the fuel for those reactors has moved by rail.

Used to see them quite often in Kennewick WA headed for Hanford Nuke site. Nothing new here also saw semi trucks with it on too.
