Date: 09/11/14 07:32 Re: 9/11 once again Author: Bob3985 Lest we ever forget and leave ourselves vulnerable to the wicked on earth. Thank you for posting this. On 9/11 I was in our office at the steam shop scanning shop practice books from the other railroads that Steve had borrowed or gathered and had the tv on when the feed switched to the scene in New York. How low can a heart sink? That day showed me.
God bless all those who lost their lives and their friends and relatives. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 09/11/14 16:31 Re: 9/11 once again Author: coastdaylight Bob3985 Wrote:

The same was said of the Mexican American war, Spanish American war, and WWII, never forget. Can anyone name what we were never to forget in these three incidents, with out going on the net? But sadly, people will, forget, and go on the net. Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 09/11/14 18:29 by coastdaylight. Date: 09/11/14 18:31 Re: 9/11 once again Author: pal77 coastdaylight Wrote:

I'll take a stab: The Alamo The Maine Pearl Harbor Date: 09/11/14 19:39 Re: 9/11 once again Author: Atsf814 We are never to forget the lives lost and the sacrifices made for our freedom that we enjoy.
Date: 09/11/14 19:56 Re: 9/11 once again Author: OHCR1551 That was our nineteenth anniversary. We left home at a quarter to nine intent on out first steam cab ride...and when we got to the Ohio Central depot, Mary greeted us with "We've got a real mess, don't we?" We hadn't had the radio on because of poor reception up in that area, so we thought she meant the maintenance of way crews.
That not, when I was standing in our front yard looking up at the empty clear sky, which should have been crisscross end by contrails, the last verse of the Star--Spangled Banner kept running through my mind: "Oh! thus be it ever/When free men shall stand/Between their loved homes and the war's desolation..." A lot of good people have been doing just that these past thirteen years. Most young people think the Alamo is just a tourist trap in San Antonio, TX. They don't know Maine is a state, much less that it was a battle ship that blew up in Havana, Cuba. Pearl Harbor is over shadowed by the event of the atomic bomb, and that the United States should apologize, and be ashamed for using the bombs. So much for revisionist history. I hate to see how the US will be blamed for the events of 9-11, many years from now. |
