Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF Passenger train on the Joint LineDate: 09/16/14 20:15 BNSF Passenger train on the Joint Line Author: SP8595 After seeing that a BNSF Passenger train (O-MANTOP1) departed Denver at 15:15 heading South down the Joint Line, I took off in that direction for the second day in a row.
I thought that the train might make good time so I headed straight for Castle Rock but I ended up waiting there for over two and a half hours:{ After watching a loaded coal train head South, followed by an empty cement train, the special finally showed up. I realize that this was a deadhead move as the theatre car was coupled up to the engine but I never can figure out why they send a slow moving coal train out right ahead of a couple of trains that could have zipped right along? 1)Anyway, by the time the train showed up, the clouds had rolled in. 2)At milepost 36, the train stopped for a red light due to the slow moving coal train ahead with the engine stopped in the shade of a cut and of course, the Sun came out! After a couple of frustrating minutes, the train started moving again with enough sunlight out still to get a half way decent shot. This ended up being the only sunlight that the train would see. 3)With the sun hitting the tree tops in the distance, it was just a little too late to get any light on the train as it proceeds South at Larkspur.
