Western Railroad Discussion > Wonder what the asking price?Date: 09/21/14 11:40 Wonder what the asking price? Author: Frontrunner NS upped the buy order by 20 units of U.P. SD9043MAC'S for a total of 120. Why don't U.P. just sell them all 309 motors. And wonder how much NS is paying for each motor. Also there is a rumor that NS buying all of BNSF GP60B locomotives.
Date: 09/21/14 12:27 Re: Wonder what the asking price? Author: dcfbalcoS1 Why don't they buy all 309 units ? Probably because Union Pacific doesn't have all of them for sale.
Date: 09/21/14 13:02 Re: Wonder what the asking price? Author: jkchubbes Discount them all, get rid of all of them.

Author: SOO6617 The fix was to add more attachment points from the fuel tank to the frame. A 5000 gallon tank hanging from just four points was just too much stress at those four points.

Date: 09/21/14 15:49 Re: Wonder what the asking price? Author: NWRailfan They had better not be selling the B's or I am going to be PO'd! Not to mention BNSF does not have enough four axle GP power to cover jobs anyway! They better look into buying some of the GP20C-ECO's like CP, but 100% new without the trade in frames.

Then they would have to meet Tier 4 emissions. All new (not rebuilt) locos after 01-01-15 have to meet Tier 4 if sold to a US common carrier. Date: 09/21/14 16:01 Re: Wonder what the asking price? Author: Pacific5th I would be suprised to see BNSF get rid of the GP60B's. They are making pretty good use out og them in the NW with many being part of yard switch sets or assigned to locals.
Date: 09/21/14 16:03 Re: Wonder what the asking price? Author: junctiontower I can't imagine that NS would want the GP60Bs. They actually GOT RID of 80 good four axle units, and have plenty of units that have never been upgraded. As for the GP ECO units, I would THINK if they were 100% new, they would have to meet Tier 4 standards and would be VERY expensive. You need to trade in SOMETHING, no matter how little is used (like CP did) to make the deal work. The GP30's BNSF sold off would have been ideal cores.
Date: 09/21/14 16:07 Re: Wonder what the asking price? Author: Milw_E70 The idiot who started the GP60B rumor has been frequently wrong...
FWIW, BNSF plans on adding cabs to the GP60Bs eventually. One is at MAC in Kansas City now for this very purpose. Date: 09/21/14 20:10 Re: Wonder what the asking price? Author: NSDash9 NS is acquiring 100 of the UP SD90MAC units via EMD, not 120 units. The 100 were trade-ins by UP to EMD on the order for 100 SD70ACe's which are to be built toward years end and delivered to UP after the first of next year.
The SD90MAC units acquired by NS can be found on my roster page listed here: http://www.nsdash9.com/rosters/7230.html The rumors regarding NS acquiring B-units are thus far just rumors and haven't been confirmed by any NS sources. The GP20C-ECOs only have trade-in truck frames, the locomotive frames are brand new, that is why they are being built at Muncie. The SD30C-ECOs re-use the SD40-2 frames, CP seems relatively pleased with the SD30C-ECOs, the only real question is whether the numbers are favorable. Date: 09/22/14 10:37 Re: Wonder what the asking price? Author: SD70M There are a few running on the UP. Late on Saturday 13th I saw the 3519 heading east on a manifest, in company with CP ES44AC 8826 at 2340 at Kearney NE, meanwhile, earlier that day, 3719 arrived at North Platte on another manifest on a very parky morning at about 04.40 going west past the water tower/elevator. . There are, of course, many of these units stored in front of the tower at North Platte
