chasing the 6396
Author: tc

Well its not a DD40 but it is a Patched SP and I figured I better get as many of these as I can before they go the way of the DD40's. This is the daily N/B Lahtrop that makes its way through soledad canyon. 1st shot is the train approaching Cp Honby in santa clarita CA 2nd & 3rd is the lathrop entering the first tunnel leading into soledad canyon, just leaving CP soledad.

I figured I better catch as many old SP things as I could before they are removed so off I went to Mojave. 1st is the train approaching the yard limits. 2nd / 3rd is the old SP signal bridge north of mojave.

I couldn't make it up to the three amigos so I had to shoot from across the freeway. on the way back South out of mojave I was able to catch this red & silver ATSF unit as rear DPU pushing his train off the UP and onto BNSF tracks. Thanks for your time.

The last stand of the searchlights on the Mojave Sub is playing out before our eyes, it will be sad to see them all finally gone, so get them and that old SP power while you can. Nice series, Tim and good effort.

Thanks for sharing,

~Ryan

Great stuff! I really like shot #2 and the last picture. Strange that I don't remember seeing a shot looking that way before?
