Iowa Trip Along US HWY 30 Pt. 1...
Author: oklachaser

I made a trip through Iowa last week following the UP line on US Hwy 30. Here are a few photos I took on the first full day heading West from Ames IA.
Photos taken October 6, 2014.

7 photos total.

Photo 1: EB UP 4134 & 3880 holding on Main 1 at Ogden IA. In the far distance you can see a train holding on Main 1 at Beaver IA.

Photos 2 & 3: EB UP 8889 & 6054 loaded coal holding on Main 1 at Beaver IA.

there's more.

Photos 4 & 5: The reason for the trains holding. Here's EB UP 7110 & 5873 loaded coal running past EB UP 8889 at Beaver IA. The crossing gates started to lower just as the school bus started to cross. Luckily the driver was smart enough to back up instead of trying to beat the oncoming train.

Photo 6: EB UP 7110 at Beaver IA.

2 more to follow.

Ronda, Nice set of shots. Really like shot 3. Been along this way many a time over the years. Always something to see. Never a dull moment. Thanks for sharing. Ben
