Western Railroad Discussion > Iowa Trip Along US HWY 30 Pt. 1...Date: 10/15/14 04:23 Iowa Trip Along US HWY 30 Pt. 1... Author: oklachaser I made a trip through Iowa last week following the UP line on US Hwy 30. Here are a few photos I took on the first full day heading West from Ames IA.
Photos taken October 6, 2014. 7 photos total. Photo 1: EB UP 4134 & 3880 holding on Main 1 at Ogden IA. In the far distance you can see a train holding on Main 1 at Beaver IA. Photos 2 & 3: EB UP 8889 & 6054 loaded coal holding on Main 1 at Beaver IA. there's more. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/15/14 04:31 by oklachaser. Date: 10/15/14 04:28 Re: Iowa Trip Along US HWY 30 Pt. 1... Author: oklachaser Photos 4 & 5: The reason for the trains holding. Here's EB UP 7110 & 5873 loaded coal running past EB UP 8889 at Beaver IA. The crossing gates started to lower just as the school bus started to cross. Luckily the driver was smart enough to back up instead of trying to beat the oncoming train.
Photo 6: EB UP 7110 at Beaver IA. 2 more to follow. Date: 10/15/14 04:29 Re: Iowa Trip Along US HWY 30 Pt. 1... Author: oklachaser Date: 10/15/14 06:14 Re: Iowa Trip Along US HWY 30 Pt. 1... Author: twjurgens Good stuff!
