Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF Track Inspection TrainDate: 10/15/14 11:49 BNSF Track Inspection Train Author: tehachcond While running some errands in Castle Rock, CO. this morning I spotted this BNSF track inspection train going south on the No. 1 track on the Joint Line. I gave chase, but unfortunately, all I had was the camera on my iphone. Sorry about the questionable quality. It was taken just south of town.
Brian Black Retired SP/UP Conductor Date: 10/15/14 12:09 Re: BNSF Track Inspection Train Author: 4451Puff It's been well established in previous posts that the rear car is a track geometry car (& not a theater car) But what is the purpose of the other car? My guess would be a generator car (large vents in the side) but perhaps some type of diner/dorm for the geo car staff as well? Thanks in advance for any input.

This car is the former Regal Crest, a sleeper. Obviously it has a generator aboard, but I have have not seen a floor plan to know what's left of the rooms. Possibly someone on T-O who works for BNSF in train service can comment. |
