UP Business cars at Portola Today
Author: DaveL

It would appear the the "fleet" is headed for winter storage at Oakland,CA
Was leaving Portola about 10:30am today.
Sorry for the less than wonderful pic.....but, it was raining and blowing a steady 35mph.

WOOHOO! RAIN! RAIN AT LAST! KISS THE SWEET RAIN!

I was up there a couple weeks ago. Driest I've ever seen it in Plumas County. Glad to see it's raining although a good snow pack is what's really needed.

It's a bit early for snow. Maybe in a month or so...

Is that the railroad museum in the upper left of the picture? I've never been to Portola, but the shapes and colors lead me to believe that it is the museum.

Was indeed, full of staff and support staff. Special Agents out of Roseville shadowed the train from Keddie all the way back to RV, picked up the Western MOP at James before continuing back.

Nope, never too early for snow in Portola. When I lived there, July and August were the only months that were "almost" guaranteed snowless. Might not have been much, and the next day could be in the 90s. Some seriously odd weather up there!
