on the road again six . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

. . . this morning started with an eastbound KCS empty grain train passing the motel with me following in hot pursuit catching him three exits east of Bossier City (top) on the Vicksburg Sub (AKA Meridian Speedway) then slow morning catching another "speedway" bound train passing the old site of Shreveport Union Station near downtown (middle). After running back and forth decided it was time to head north and heard DS taking to a KCS695 south which I "thought" was waiting for the LORAM rail grinding train (bottom) at Mooringsport to clear up in Oil City so waited and waited . . . six more to come . .

. . . and waited and waited . . . I discovered he was making a pickup and not just waiting for the railgrinder to clear up and when he finally showed up at the nice bridge at Mooringsport after more than two hours the sun was less than stellar (top), also by this time there were two short time crews behind that passed right on this block, a UP coal load and this KCS manifest crossing under HWY 71 near Oil City and again crossing the bridge at Mooringsport (bottom) . . . three more . . .

. . . on arrival Ash Down, AR the Ash Down Dodger had pulled south of the small yard (top) to allow the KIAMICHI interchange job to pull past to shove his train in with an actual KIAMICHI unit on the point (middle). After which they wyed the power giving me hopes of catching it leading on the return trip but they never left? Finally, caught a northbound empty steel train rounding the big curve in the woods at Wilton (bottom) which turned out to be the last shot of this day.

Nice shots of great countryside JB, and it's nice to see the grey KCS units as well as the Belles.
