chasing the saugus local today
Author: tc

First I would like to say thanks to the saugus crew for giving the old girl a good coat of makeup sure looks good. the Boss and I didn't get along yesterday so I used a sick day today(COUGH COUGH) so off I went to chase the Saugus local before the local vandals got ahold of it again. 1st shot is the local N/B in sylmar ca approaching CP Balboa on the metrolink I was hopeing they would do some switching at DWP but no luck so off I went to CP portal for the second shot trying to make up for the first. 3rd is the train coming back S/B from saugus where the light so bad so no shots at saugus. 3rd is at CP Honby

Good shots. Always nice to see a caboose on the end--glad you concentrated several shots to it.

If memory serves me correctly, it was the Gemco crews that painted the caboose? Can someone closer to the action confirm? Nice to see the graffiti bandits/artists have not taken over and undone the nice paint job.

Love the pics! As much as I hate getting stuck in traffic over that pass each week, it's nice to see the trains once in a while pop through.
The caboose was indeed repainted by the crews last month. It coincided with one of the crew member's retirement/party at the Gemco Depot.

#9 is fantastic, great job. Love the new paint job, but it doesn't have enough grime to match what I remember seeing as a kid. :)
