Western Railroad Discussion > Today on the GSR - UP Pratt Sub

A mostly hazy cloudy day along the UP's Pratt Subdivision between Pratt, KS, and Dalhart, TX.

First, UP 4769 East with doublestacks approaching the east end of Joy...west of Greensburg, KS.

Second & third....as I passed Kismet, KS, a westbound auto train was in the hole for an eastbound.
Luck was with me and I was able to capture UP 8152 East with stacks crossing the Cimarron River bridge,
here from the east end. I moved to the west side of "The Sampson of the Cimarron" for the UP 4562 West.

Anyone have symbols for these trains?

I caught up with the westbound auto train at Optima, OK. Here it is passing the west end of the siding, and heading west to Guymon, OK in the distance.

Wow I shot the GSR today too and thought I came away with some cool stuff but yours beats mine! Great work!

Love that last shot! Seeing compressed photos like that really show the grade and "pull" or "drop" the entire train and engineer feels. Spectacular stuff.
