Western Railroad Discussion > Recent Needles Sub trip

I finally got out to the desert this week. Since so much is closed along the old Route 66, I camped at Lavic Dry Lake and operated out of there. The Highway Patrol and San Bernadino Sheriff were in the area so I didn't sneak around the barriers at Ludlow
Chilly weather but good visibility and light breezes.
Here are a few pictures, nothing fantastic and my first postings so bear with me.

1, Looking West from Lavic towards Pisgah. 30 minutes ago this sky was stormy, but of course no train.
2, A meet at the same location. Another train in the distance.

Residual road and shoulder damage along numerous low spots of Old US Rt. 66 from severe 'monsoon season' thunderstorm runoff this past summer.
