Western Railroad Discussion > Rio Grande on the Rock at NightDate: 11/26/14 22:38 Rio Grande on the Rock at Night Author: bnsfsd70 After having been dropped off in Topeka, KS just a few hours earlier from the A-RLNSR, UP's Rio Grande heritage unit #1989 was commandeered for use on the M-TPASX, a symbol I've never seen before. To get it ready for it's trip to East St. Louis, they had to spin it around the Wye at SJ Jct., including this short trip onto the ex-RI Golden State Route. Seeing that technically, the DRGW purchased the SP in 1988, this engine is on "home rails," as the SP took control of the GSR after the Rock's demise.
The video here is of the '89 as it was coming into Topeka on the A-RLNSR at Menoken Jct. But for eight years, this piece of rail was owned by the Rio Grande, by way of their purchase of the SP. Thanks for looking! - Jeff Posted from iPhone Date: 11/27/14 21:01 Re: Rio Grande on the Rock at Night Author: UPTRAIN bnsfsd70 Wrote:

I'm not much of a "horn" person, so I edited out the two long blasts to get a quicker upload and get to the train itself more quickly. In the future, is that something people might be interested in hearing? Thanks, Jeff |
