A BIG Thank you to You and your Daughter for staying on top of this ! Date: 11/28/14 15:40 Re: OSH calendars----official word Author: neilgross I got one this morning from the Berkeley, CA Orchard store. I stopped by after railfanning in Emeryville to pick up a couple things, and the clerk said Orchard club members get a free calendar and handed me one. I had completely forgotten about the calendar until she gave it to me.
I just read the earlier thread on this subject and realized I probably have the scoop on the calendar, so here are some details. All art is by Ken Muramoto. The calendar opens with a two page spread celebrating the calendar's 40th anniversary. I skimmed the text but didn't see any wording about Orchard guaranteeing to continue the calendar or anything like that, so we can have the "will they or won't they" discussion again next year. Here are the specifics of the art: cover - SP 2472 January - DRGW 473 February - Roaring Camp and Big Trees 7 March - Roaring Camp and Big Trees 2 April - Mt. Rainier 70 May - CP Jupiter and UP 119 June - interior of Colorado Midland observation 111 July - Roaring Camp and Big Trees 1 August - DRGW caboose 0503 September - Chehalis - Centralia 15 October - Virginia and Truckee 21 November - Roaring Camp and Big Trees 3 December - Santa Fe F-unit model train Some of the paintings have copyright dates of 2012 and 2013 and are used with permission of the various tourist train operations, so I guess these were existing paintings done for other groups and being republished in the calendar. "I am shocked, SHOCKED, that misinformation has been known to be posted here!" Date: 11/28/14 21:43 Re: OSH calendars----official word Author: CarolVoss CA_Sou_MA_Agent Wrote:

I will go to the store i usually go to snd see if they will be generous about giving me multiple copies to mail to my friends---carls father was an originsl stockholder in 1931 and as of last year we joined the Club thing and the manager gave me my multiple copies---our daughter asked us not to do this at her store where she has only been employed since June and i understand her concern---stay tuned--- C Carol Voss Bakersfield, CA Date: 12/03/14 20:29 Re: OSH calendars----official word--and another word on Author: CarolVoss CarolVoss Wrote:

THe calendar paintings are done by a 21 year old Japanese autistic guy, Ken Matsumoto, who was born and raised in the Santa Cruz area---------most interesting as we all know that many of the railfans fall into the "aspbergers/autistic syndrome, including Rob Carlson who founded Altamont Press. Since I and another TO participant have male autistic young relatives, we can relate to this-----------I have been sending copies of this calendar to several of my railfan buddies who live far out of state for well over 10 years and am glad to be able to continue the tradition------------ C. > I will go to the store i usually go to snd see if > they will be generous about giving me multiple > copies to mail to my friends---carls father was an > originsl stockholder in 1931 and as of last year > we joined the Club thing and the manager gave me > my multiple copies---our daughter asked us not to > do this at her store where she has only been > employed since June and i understand her > concern---stay tuned--- > C Carol Voss Bakersfield, CA |
