Today was 38 for a high and 27 for a low with fog and sun in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub with a variety filled day. The fog kept rolling in and out all morning. Here are some of the trains that rolled thru the backyard and beyond.

1. BNSF 477433 GN heritage hopper car rolling in an 8444am grain train.
2. EB 903am grain train with BNSF 5926-8914 on the point with a nice DPU.
3. ES44AC NS 8025 Monomgahela doing DPU duties on same train looking good!

4. WB 933am #27 Empire Builder with 173 on the point over 4hrs late. Fog momentarily cleared for the picture.
5. #27 about to knock down the high green at signal 641.
6. Same train fading away towards downtown Ritzville, WA.

7. EB 955am garbage train with NS 8983 and UP 9398 on the pull with about 10 cars. Nice sounding 5-chime.

9. EB 1022am grain train with BNSF 4548-6909 on the point with DPU in the fog again.
10. DPU BNSF 4889 on same train. Looks like there was a fire in it's past.

23. WB 227pm grain train with BNSF 4942-7101 on the point with DPU and a friendly toot from the hogger. Train on the approach of old US10 underpass and signal 661.

27 would get even later at Skamania siding, tucked in behind a key train (so, what is a "key" train), waiting on three Eastbound trains including a military move, number 28, and one more I didn't get to see. A five train meet is a wild time for all. 28 would back out of the siding to head West! 28 was a good thirty minutes late by the time they reached Bingen.

Poor old #27 has a heck of time being on time the past year or so. It happens very seldom. Couple of years ago, you could set your watch to it in Ritzville, 1025p to 1030p every night, on time. That on time performance was for many years never varied.
