Sure looks like Echo Canyon, makes sense with the double track UP, old highway and Freeway (I-80)

I thought it would take 5 minutes for someone to ID the spot so 9 isn't bad! I originally was looking in Weber Canyon but there is no old highway. I briefly looked in Echo Canyon but was too far up/east.

The rock to the right of the road can be seen over the driver's left shoulder. In the movie they were driving from Pocatello to Santa Barbara but maybe made a detour to see some trains. That was sort of one of the themes, don't be too set in your ways and let go sometimes.
