Western Railroad Discussion > LA/Long Beach Today

Here's 5 images from a loop around South LA/Long Beach today:

1.) The Malabar Switcher (Y-LAC0112-19A) works Malabar Yard, as their GP60M passes the wig-wag on the south end.
2.) The Torrance Local (LOW10 19) comes out of Torrance with a trio of tagged up Gensets.
3.) An inbound BNSF intermodal (S-LPCLHW1-16A) heads down the PHL bound for one of the ports. I gather most trains shove in so this was a nice catch.

4.) Lite power heads to Dolores as a PHL job pulls a cut out of TICTF.
5.) The LOG16R job works a customer west of Dolores on the Carson Industrial Lead.

Great catch on the Torrance on exPE trackage, they don't go that far very often.

Virlon, TICTF is the name of one of the Terminal Island Container facilities. I think this may be a newer name as I only recall hearing it in the last five years or so - but my memory is as reliable as Wikipedia.

Thank you, Charles. When I saw the photo I thought that RBMN was referring to ICTF, but that isn't the right area in the photo for ICTF.

Yes, it is very confusing as the names are almost identical and they are within a few miles of each other.

TICTF= Terminal Island Container Transfer Facility, at 1000 New Dock St. Evergreen with some China Shipping.

Anaheim Street overpass sidewalk, probably best as a quick in/out given the port/refineries on either side.
