Western Railroad Discussion > A Three Train Sequence at Vancouver, WA Monday

First a northbound BNSF empty wells train came off the Columbia River Bridge at 2:44 pm but was stopped by the dispatcher at Central Vancouver Interlocking because both northbound and southbound Cascades were due. This means the train extended though the station and bridge. At 2:57 pm northbound Cascade 516 (Portland to Vancouver, BC) arrived three minutes late. Then at 3:04 pm southbound Cascade 513 (Vancouver, BC to Portland) arrived 49 minutes late. The Cascades used the track closest to the station while empty wells occupied the other track. And BNSF yard switcher 2752 sat in the pocket track. In all it was an interesting 25 or so minutes.

3. Slowing to a stop to wait for the passenger trains to clear.

Very nice! Vancouver WA is the only place I've railfanned that routinely has two movements simultaneously. & a few times I've been at the station and have had movements on all 3 legs of the wye at the same time.

Vancouver also appears to be a place where "railfans" are not hassled by capturing the action! Something we periodically hear about on TO.
