Big Blue On The BNSF
Author: Ritzville

Today was another cold overcast day in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub with a high of 37 and low of 30. I had unusual bright blue power on a manifest train that I've never seen before. Unfortunately the consist caught me by surprise, so could only take quick shots. The leasing letters were so small could not read from a distance. Maybe someone can identify them on pictures 8 thru 10. Here are some of the trains that passed thru the backyard and beyond today. Actually had two friendly hoggers open their windows and wave, not bad from what I read today on TO.

1. WB 855 grain train with DPU KCS 4141 on the push.
2. WB 1122am grain train with BNSF 6537-5404 on the point with DPU.
3. DPU CP 8883 on same grain train.

5. EB 115pm manifest train with BNSF 7656, Citirail 1213, BNSF 6937-7433, UP 9214 and BNSF 1102 on the point.
6. UP 9214.

7. Another shot of the same manifest train.
8. EB 200pm manifest train with Big Blue 2025-2026 and BNSF 5034 on the pull with DPU. Not sure where these locomotives are from, but there bright blue color stands out.
8. Another shot of same train.

The blue units look to be two of the GE Tier 4 demonstrators.

Larry, what kind of a train was this with the demos? Shows BNSF tanks behind the leaders with no buffer car, but hoppers at the rear. Seems unusual.

16. WB 354pm grain train with BNSF 8226-4353 on the pull with DPU and a friendly wave from the hogger.
17. WB 409pm intermodal train with BNSF 6146-6577 on the very point.
18. Rare BNSF H1 1050 with the Yellow BNSF on it's sides on the point of an EB 430pm auto rack train. Wish the light hadn't been so dark.

That's it for another overcast day! Hope everyone has a great evening and thanks so much for looking!

Larry

Nice catch of the GE Demonstrators. Wow, 3 in one train. No doubt the look of the future.
