Depot Friday: RI in Iowa . . .
Author: SCKP187

It is most amazing and satisfying how the cities of Iowa have preserved so many depots.
1-2 Vinton Iowa. Now a city/county museum next to Iowa Northern tracks.
3 Stuart Iowa. Museum/historical society next to Iowa Interstate tracks
4-5-6 Atlantic Iowa. Chamber of Commerce next to Iowa Interstate tracks
Thanks for looking

Thanks Brian for the nice pictures of so many preserved railroad stations that I didn't know existed. Wish they had done more preservation here out West. I remember so many stations that SP and Santa Fe had when I was younger, too bad they were all torn down.

Vinton with a passenger train! Photographed 6/8/13 during the Iowa Northern CNWHS convention passenger special layover.

I just wish the folks in Vinton would either drop the train order
boards to Stop or clear them. It was very rare in RI days to display
one board let alone both of them to Calling On. As the signal is not
in operation, it would have no effect on IANR operations.

that TO signal in Vinton reminds me of the one at Cumbres, Colorado on the C&TS. Just not right.
