Western Railroad Discussion > Camp Roberts (central calif) updateDate: 02/21/15 20:22 Camp Roberts (central calif) update Author: pdt Rest of the loads from McKay #2 (Coast line) were shoved into the camp during the last few days.
Empty flat cars are stored on the ocean side of the loop. This track hasn't been used in prob 20 years. 9 flats on the circus ramp track on the 101 side of the loop. All empty now. McKay #1 Has about 40 empty DODX flats. BNSF power was taken south today on a SB UP auto rack repo train. Will be at least 1 more move to pull the 30 or so empty flats still in the camp. Have no idea if the cars will sit for a while or move shortly. Date: 02/22/15 07:31 Re: Camp Roberts (central calif) update Author: goldcoast Any idea what reserve unit currently there.
Military or civilian personnel handling the inbound rail traffic? Date: 02/22/15 09:42 Re: Camp Roberts (central calif) update Author: PHall 40th Infantry Division (Mechanized), California Army National Guard.
The "unit" dealing with the equipment is the MATES over at the East Garrison. Date: 02/22/15 11:18 Re: Camp Roberts (central calif) update Author: Stottman There are no active duty Military railroad units. There are some in the reserves (part time), located in Michigan or so.
All switching at Military posts is done by civilians. Not sure if they are direct DOD, or a "contractor". Date: 02/22/15 18:20 Re: Camp Roberts (central calif) update Author: pdt switching at camp roberts and East Garrison is done by the UP. Just not that much going on.
