Rondout (Illinois) tower to close 3-7

Just heard on another forum the Tower at Rondout (MILW, SOO, CP) will close this coming Saturday. It has quite a history and will be missed. Not a lot of interlocking towers remaining anywhere....

From reports I've seen, the tower will close March 7 and its functions transferred to CP dispatchers in Minneapolis. The tower is owned by Metra but was staffed by CP personnel and was originally a Milwaukee Road structure. As of now, there is no information on what Metra intends to do with it.

Sheesh, I go on this route and haven't heard of that happening at all. Too bad, the last place we could get paperwork going into Chicago.
