More great California weather

What a contrast with the eastern part of the country. This was today north of Red Bluff, Ca. The SD59MX units have been assigned to this job (Redding-Roseville turn) for almost three years now.

More great California weather alright; take a look at water level under the bridge and see what this great weather is going to cost us this summer. Normally in early March that water should be up near the bridge bottom. So enjoy it now, it's going to get rough.

Beautiful! The SD59MXs have been a great addition to the Roseville hauler power pool, and it's nice that most of them have avoided taggers.

I think you have the wrong bridge. That creek is dry most of the year, even in normal conditions. Though I'm not arguing the dire need for water in CA.

It's a rebuilt SD60M with new 710-based prime mover to meet newer emissions regulations. They are currently in the 99xx series, with UP 9900 the only one with a exhaust scrubber "hump" to meet the newest Tier 4 emissions standard.

SD59M-2 is another model name for the SD59MX. Here's a photo from the newest batch to show why many of us call them SD59MXs.

We were lucky in the FRC area last year. I am not looking forward to this summer (unless there is a miracle). All it takes is one moron or a lightning storm!

I absolutely love the Harriman-era masonry stonework on those bridge piers. Really special stuff-not seen in many places.
